Be Kind: Athletes who are caught in the act of kindness, to their teammates, coaches, student managers, officials, fans and GHHS staff.
Be Engaged: Athletes who are seen fully engaged in their sport, a more traditional athlete of the week, often based on (improved) performance in practices and games.
Be Responsible: Athletes who have shown overt respect and responsibility to their coaches, teammates, school (such as school grounds etc.) school staff and fellow classmates.
Nominated/selected students have been "caught" going above and beyond the standard "Tide Way" expectation.

Each week, THREE athletes, one from each category, will be selcted from the pool of nominations in the above categories. Nominations are made by coaching staff from each sport and ALL levels of play (varsity, JV and C-team). Final winners will be selected by a panel of GHHS Sport Booster board officials and, Athletic Director. Our goal is to recognize outstanding athletes in each sport, who behavioraly go above and beyond for their sport, their team and their school (and fans)!
The chosen athletes will have their photo taken and will recieve a certificate of recognition and a gift card to a community sponsoring business.

Be Kind: Tennis- " Elliott Strachan, Team Captain and senior shows great leadership and is a great encourager of his teammates." Be Engaged: Kennedy Marler, Sophomore, Girls Soccer- "had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Yelm. Team player and all around hard worker." Be Responsible: Brooklyn Milbourn, Senior, Dance Team- "She is a spectacular teammate, really uplifting to her fellow dancers, and as a Captain, has set a great tone of leadership for the season!" |

ENGAGED: Elise Miller(soccer) “[Elise] had 2 hat tricks and 4 assists during the week’s game and currently leads the team with 8 goals!” KINDNESS: Sawyer Atwill (Cross country)- “Sawyer has been an amazing senior who constantly steps up and does what is needed, with a kind and positive attitude!” RESPONSIBLE: Sam Barber (Water polo)- “He’s shown great responsibility within his team this year. He’s always pushing his team to shape up and try 1% harder. His tenacity in a game is unstoppable!” |
ATHLETES of THE WEEK (Oct 3-7)
Be Kind: Charles Edgar, TENNIS, JUNIOR “Charles is a great leader and teammate, always kind to everyone and looking out for others on his team. At every match he asks me for a trash bag and makes sure the bus and our team space is clean at the end of a match.” Be Engaged: Lydia Ward, VOLLEYBALL, JUNIOR “Lydia Ward led the Tides Volleyball team to wins against CK and Timberline last week. Lydia, a junior setter and captain, collected 64 assists, 8 aces, and 20 digs in the two wins. Lydia works extremely hard and is a great teammate and a fierce competitor.” Be Responsible: Amelia Henzel, Girls Swim & Dive, SENIOR “Amelia has been doing a fantastic job in her role as a team Captain. Athletically, she has come so far over the past 4 years and is currently one of our top swimmers. On deck she brings leadership, kindness and team spirit. She has set a high standard of excellence in everything she does.” |

Be Kind: Libby Law 11 "The team would like to nominate Libby for Athlete of the Week because she works hard, puts her teammates first, always has an upbeat attitude, and is genuinely a nice person to everyone. We appreciate having her on the team!" Be Engaged: Boone Leverett 10- Football "Boone was 2/2 on field goals and 6/7 on extra points in the game against River Ridge. Boone is currently leading the state in made field goals." Be Responsible: Magdalene Francis 10, Football Manager "Magdalene works hard at practices and games to ensure that athletes and coaches are set up for success. She is responsible for making sure gear gets on and off the bus for away games and is always seen helping the team in any way she can." |

Be Kind: Abbie Hunter 11, SOCCER "Abbie had stepped up being a part time keeper for JV as well as a goal scorer. She has recently torn her ACL playing fall basketball but that hasn't stopped her coming out and still supporting the girls in practices and games. We are so grateful for her commitment to the program and wishing her a quick and easy recovery." Be Engaged: Quinn Middleton 12, WATER POLO "Quinn is always listening. He’s responsible as a captain & he’s so kind to all of his teammates. He’s a leader by example, and he’s been speaking up verbally too in order to keep his team in check! He’s been such a huge help this week and all season." Be Responsible: Peyton Stapleton-Long 10, FOOTBALL "Peyton has shown what it means to live the TIDES way, and do what is best for the football program on and off the field. He has also traveled to road games to help the team in any role possible. Thanks for being a leader, Peyton!" |
